Feed Trial on Be My Alibi
Sissy has always been on the thin side since her EPM episode. So I am starting my own feed trial with the feed MoorGlo by ADM. I will ad pictures weekly and write a blog.
10/3/11 Day 1
First day starting new feed. 6lbs a day, 2 in am, 2 at lunch, 2 at dinner. Bermuda/grass hay in am (7-9lbs) and 7-9 lbs grass hay and alfalfa(1-3lbs) in PM. Gro strong minerals, as much as she will eat. She will get rode 4-5 times a week
10/10/11 1 week on feed
Sissy's coat has shined up already. She was only rode 3 times this week. But I noticed when cinching her up that the back cinch had to be on a lower hole. She has gained weight already this week. Friday, Sat and Sun she was feed the same hay, but fed 3lbs in am and pm as we were not home to do a lunch feeding.
10/17/11 2 weeks on feed
We realized that the scoop we were using was actually about half of what she should have had and bumped her feed up to the new scoop today (10-17). We also have started feeding her more alfalfa. She is now getting Alfalfa and grass hay 2x a day, about 20-25 pounds total.

Sis is starting to put weight on, i mostly see it in her chest and neck. I can see a small difference in her back. Pics coming soon, need to u
10/31/11 4 weeks on feed
I can really see her chest starting to get wider. Her back is filling in and her saddle is fitting more "up" on her back.

We switched the feed on this mare 11/17/11(slowly switched her over). The feed is still by ADM. Sissy is now getting 4 pounds of Patriot 12/10 S textured feed and 1 pound of soaked beet pulp in the morning and then the same in the evening. She also gets alfalfa and grass hay 2x a day, as much as she will eat.
We thought she wasnt gaining weight as much as she should on the other feed. She also gets 1 oz of wheat germ oil 2x a day. We did not get any pictures this week as it was raining. I will take pics and post on 11/28/11.
